What Certification Choices Do I Have For Dynamics 365 CRM?

Do you want to get your Microsoft Dynamics CRM certification? It is how it goes.

Microsoft provides a variety of certifications to choose from, as well as a variety of elective examinations to pass to get your credentials, meaning that you have a lot of options in how you structure your certification path.

When Dynamics 365 came, the standalone CRM certification phase-out, and MCSA: Microsoft Dynamics 365 keeps in its place.

But that doesn't rule out other possibilities. Microsoft will not retire a CRM and ERP certification without restoring it.

For Dynamics professionals, there are eight new role-based certificates: one foundational certification that covers the essentials and seven mid-level certifications that test the skills needed to be an effective functional consultant focusing on one of four main Dynamics 365 apps.

We'll get into the certifications for Dynamics 365 CRM applications in further depth.

Microsoft Certified in Dynamics 365 Fundamentals

This basic Dynamics 365 certification covers a wide range of subjects. If you want to pursue the Associate-level Dynamics 365 badges, it's not needed, but it's a fantastic place to start. All Dynamics 365 solutions will be presented, including CRM and ERP, and the Power Platform. Basic cloud principles, pricing and licensing, and deployment and release options in the exam.

Associate Microsoft Certified: Field Service Functional Consultant for Dynamics 365

It is yet another qualification for aspiring Dynamics 365 Functional Consultants, this time focusing on the Field Service app. You must install the app, manage the field service lifecycle, and implement the Connected Field Service (IoT) solution to ensure successful work order processing and management of personnel and resources in the field to earn this certification.

Associate Microsoft Certified: Customer Service Functional Consultant for Dynamics 365

This certification validates your ability to design intelligent, successful customer experience solutions using Dynamics 365's customer service platform. To anticipate and respond to client expectations, you'll need to know everything about apps—managing data, configuring platforms, and maintaining security processes—as well as how to handle cases, queues, entitlements, and knowledge bases within the solution.

Associate Microsoft Certified: Functional Consultant for Dynamics 365 for Sales

You must demonstrate your ability to design solutions that improve the efficiency of sales teams to pass these examinations and earn the certification for Dynamics 365 for Sales specialists. It includes using data analytics to predict and plan client encounters, manage leads and transactions, and support sales teams in making informed decisions.

What about the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Business Applications course?

This expert-level badge is still available even though the required qualification, MCSA: Dynamics 365, has been removed.

However, since the MCSA: Dynamics 365 is no longer accessible, you must first get the MCSA: Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations, which does not cover any CRM-related topics, before sitting for the MCSE: Business Applications.

Not only would you need to get a certification for the ERP side of Dynamics before taking the MCSE, but the few CRM-focused tests that were available to get this MCSE have also been retired.

While MCSE: Business Applications is still theoretically available, it isn't worth studying as a CRM specialist because it doesn't cover the products you work with or the skills you want to demonstrate. You're generally better off sticking with role-based credentials and hoping that one for your current position, or the job role you want, becomes available soon.
